What doesn't kill you makes you hungrier!

Ideal for balmy days and days in between, staple favourite in Trinidad and around the Caribbean region, mango chow is one for adults and kids alike!

2 half-ripe mangoes (use other fruit as desired)

4 cloves of garlic (add or minus as desired)

Salt to taste

1 or 2 scotch bonnet or other hot pepper (use more or less as desired)

4 leaves of bhandaniya or cilantro,

Juice of one lime

  1. Peel and slice mangoes into thin strips and place in a medium bowl.
  2. Finely chop bhandaniya or cilantro, garlic and pepper and add to sliced mangoes.
  3. Add lime juice and salt and mix well. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.

Note: the longer the chow is left to marinate, the hotter and saltier it becomes. Enjoy!
